  2. Release 2.10: Making life easier for the user. More clarity. Less noise. Better communication.

Clarity over noise. Communication that counts.

Release #: 2.10

Date: November 2025

Release 2.10 of Exebenus Spotter is built on the insight and feedback of our users, drilling engineers and operations managers, who rely on Exebenus Spotter every day.

We know how much information you must monitor, interpret, and act on, often under pressure and across multiple wells. That’s why this release focuses on what matters most: clarity, speed, and meaningful communication.

With improved message handling, smarter alarm logic, and clearer visualization in depth-based plots and logs, Exebenus Spotter 2.10 helps you quickly identify real risks and filter out unnecessary noise. The result is faster interpretation, more confident decision-making, and stronger collaboration between monitoring engineers (RTOC) and rig crew.

By making operational data clearer and more intuitive, Release 2.10 turns insight into action, helping your team build trust, communicate better, and make every decision count.

Why

Release 2.10

matters

E

Smart alarms, less noise: Reduce alarms fatigue and improve communication between monitoring engineers and the rig

E

Clearer torque insight: Get intuitive warnings with detailed contextual information

E

Depth-based visualization: Connect risk events directly to drilling conditions for faster understanding

Olav Revheim, CEO & CTO

By clarifying insights, we’re making Exebenus Spotter more intuitive and aligned with the way engineers work. It’s another step toward our vision of making advanced machine learning an everyday tool simpler, clearer, and more impactful.

More clarity. Better communication.

New features such as Escalation Alerts, clarified torque messages, and depth-based alarm visualization make it easier than ever to spot emerging risks and communicate them effectively.

Smart alarms, less noise. More insight.

Exebenus Spotter continuously monitors drilling parameters and raises three distinct types of warnings to help engineers stay ahead of stuck-pipe risks.

  • Reactive warnings track short-term, transient risk symptoms, giving engineers a live view of emerging risks
  • Predictive warnings detect slower-developing conditions over longer timescales, providing early visibility of evolving risk trends
  • Escalation alerts (new) triggered when multiple base-level warnings occur within a configurable timeframe (by default 24 hours) and depth range (e.g., 50–200 m)

Escalation Alerts help you:

  • See where and when risks are intensifying
  • Stay focused on critical, developing risk zones
  • Maintain awareness of past alerts at similar depths, even outside the typical 2-4 hour time window
  • Communicate clearly and consistently between RTOC and rig

When triggered, users receive a clear, actionable message: “SP Alert Escalation: Several risk symptoms close to current bit depth.

Sharper torque insight. Clearer root cause.

Release 2.10 brings greater transparency to how breakover torque alerts are triggered, giving engineers clearer understanding of why an alert was flagged and what pattern contributed to the alerts.

Exebenus Spotter evaluates three established breakover torque behaviors:

  • Relative change detection – triggers when a large step change in breakover torque occurs from one stand to the next, highlighting short-term shifts
  • Trend escalation – triggers when a gradual increase in torque slope or trend strength indicates a slow-building risk over time (considers up to 20 previous breakover torques, by default)
  • Trend deviation – flags deviation from long-term trends, revealing early-stage risks

In Release 2.10, torque alerts will now reflect any combination of these three behaviors. The result is torque alerts with clearer context and stronger diagnostic value, helping engineers interpret faster and improving operational decision-making information.

Example alert message:Breakover torque risk – Relative change from previous stand; Increasing trend; Deviation from trend.”

Improved breakover torque gives engineers transparent, actionable context for why the alert was triggered.

Depth based context. Clearer understanding.

Release 2.10 makes stuck pipe analysis more intuitive by linking risk warnings and alerts directly to depth-based data.

You can now visualize warnings within lithology plots to see where risks align with formation changes. In broomstick plots, the difference between the Exebenus Spotter real-time breakover torque and hookload shows how issues like poor hole cleaning or high friction relate to measured and calculated drag values giving a clearer diagnostic context.

By converting alerts from time to depth, Exebenus Spotter enables faster event interpretation, better correlation of risks with drilling conditions, and improved root-cause understanding.

This torque and drag broomstick plot helps engineers identify issues like poor hole cleaning or high friction by comparing calculated, measured, and real-time breakover torque and hookload from Exebenus Spotter.
